Dave Grohl made not one, but three, surprise appearances this past weekend at England’s Glastonbury festival. On Friday (June 23rd) the Foo Fighters — billed as the ChurnUps — played an unannounced, surprise 10-song set that included portions of Metallica‘s “Enter Sandman” and Black Sabbath‘s “Paranoid.” Grohl’s daughter, Violet, joined the band for “Show Me How.”

That same day, Grohl joined Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr‘s guest spot with the Pretenders by drumming on the band’s early favourite, “Tattooed Love Boys.” After the Pretenders’ appearance, frontwoman Chrissie Hynde pulled a reluctant Paul McCartney out from the wings while watching the set for a quick wave to the audience.

The next night (June 24th), Grohl was on hand to close out Guns N’ Roses set by playing guitar on their 1987 classic, “Paradise City.”
