Music photographer Denis O’Regan is celebrating his 69th birthday by having a special exhibit of his work called “69 days” at the West Contemporary Gallery in London that features some of his most popular work. One of the attractions however is the display of 6 never before seen photos including two of David Bowie and Freddie Mercury.

Running from October 24 to January 1 2023, the exhibition will also sell limited-edition prints of the images, with 10% of each sale donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital’s charity GOSH.

One sees the Space Oddity singer looking relaxed with sunglasses as he stares off into the distance. It was taken outside Palm Springs, California in 1983 when Bowie was performing for the Apple founders’ US Festival in San Bernardino.

The other captures the artist soaking up the late sun backstage at VLF Park in Melbourne, Australia in 1983.

Another image sees Mercury lounging on the terrace of his Budapest penthouse suite in Hungary in 1986 as he rehearsed lyrics of a local folk song that would be introduced into Queen’s show at the Nepstadion stadium. O’Regan is credited with some of the most popular photos from Queen’s Live Aid set at Wembley in 1985.

There is also said to be an unseen shot of Mick Jagger on stage in Sweden in 1982.
